The rules of our shared home

Terms of Use

These terms explain the agreement between you and Cofori when you use the service.

Last updated: 25 September 2026

Important: Cofori helps households organise shared expenses, plans and conversations. It is not a bank, payment processor or financial adviser, and it does not transfer money.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using Cofori, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you use Cofori for an organisation or on someone else’s behalf, you confirm that you have authority to do so.

2. Your account

Provide accurate information, keep your sign-in credentials secure and tell us promptly if you think your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless the law says otherwise.

Household invite links or codes should be shared only with people you intend to add. Household members may be able to see and change shared household content according to their permissions.

3. Using Cofori responsibly

You may use Cofori only for lawful household organisation. You must not:

  • harass others or upload unlawful, harmful, deceptive or infringing material;
  • access another person’s account or household without permission;
  • probe, disrupt, overload or bypass the security of the service;
  • copy, scrape, reverse engineer or resell the service except where the law expressly allows it; or
  • use Cofori to facilitate fraud, money laundering or other illegal activity.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of content you submit. You give Cofori a limited, worldwide licence to host, process, display and transmit that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service.

You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to add content and share it with your household. You are responsible for deciding whether sensitive details, including payment information, should be shared with household members.

5. Shared expenses and payment details

Cofori can calculate shares, record amounts and show whether household members have marked an expense as settled. Cofori does not hold funds, initiate payments or verify that a payment occurred. Any transfer happens outside Cofori and is the responsibility of the people involved.

Check amounts and recipient details before making a payment. Cofori is not responsible for transfers sent to incorrect or outdated details, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

6. Service availability and changes

We aim to keep Cofori available and reliable, but the service may occasionally be interrupted for maintenance, security, technical issues or circumstances outside our control. We may add, change or remove features. If a material change negatively affects you, we will give reasonable notice where practical.

7. Suspension and ending your account

You may stop using Cofori at any time and can request account deletion using the steps on our Account Deletion page.

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users or the service, investigate a suspected breach, comply with law or respond to serious misuse. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and offer a way to appeal.

8. Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.

Subject to that, Cofori is provided for personal household organisation. We are not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate information entered by users, dealings between household members, external payment services, or events outside our reasonable control. We do not promise that Cofori will be error-free or meet every individual need.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory rights and protections provided by the law where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts.

10. Contact and changes

We may update these terms when Cofori or the law changes. We will publish the new date and give additional notice for material changes where required.
